The primary objective of AKHAR - SOH is Education. AKHAR - SOH helps students from economically weaker sections of the society.

We believe in tapping on the numerous schemes, of the Central and State government, towards the education of the less fortunate children.

 Zee TV[Zee Punjabi] will telecast the story of Sikligar Sikhs on its Khabarnama programme on Wednesday 1st July'09 at 9.30pm

The programme features a panel discussion with activist writer Nanak Singh Nishter from Hyderabad, veteran Sikligar empowerment pioneer Er. Mohinder Singh from Chandigarh and young Akhar activist Ravinder Singh from Bangalore.

 "Recalling the Forgotten Sikhs"

Living in abject penury, far from their homeland Punjab, with virtually no connection with Sikh thought and the Sikh world, they are ironsmiths who eke out a daily living by making utensils, knives and agricultural implements.  Whatever little history is available, tells us that they were weapon-makers since the times of the sixth Master, Guru Hargobind Sahib.
